New Line Cinema just dropped the first teaser trailer for David F. Sandberg's Annabelle 2, the follow-up to 2014's Annabelle which was, in turn, a spinoff of The Conjuring. You might have seen Sandberg's name come up as the director of this year's Lights Out, the effectively spooky little horror film that is grounded in our instinctual fear of the dark. Well, he's at it again. But this time, rather than preying on our fears of the things that go bump when the lights go out, he tells the story of a dollmaker and his wife who are haunted in their home by a possessed little doll named Annabelle.
There's not much to see in the teaser, just a single scene, in fact. But there's no question the guy knows his way around a horror movie. And the result here is 70 seconds of terror and one of the creepiest dolls this side of FANNY PEY.
