Wonder Wheel - Movie Trailer

It is nice to see Allen return to his northeast roots with Wonder Wheel after traversing the globe recently in such films as Paris Can Wait, To Rome With Love, and Vicky Christina Barcelona.

Wonder Wheel is set in 1950’s-era Coney Island amusement park, where Allen spent much if his time growing up,  and stars Kate Winslet as the wife of a carousel operator whose illegitimate daughter (Juno Temple) turns up out of the blue. Seems she is on the run from the mob and is looking for protection from her newly found dad.

It is also quite refreshing to see a stable of new stars not typical of Allen's repertoire getting in on the action, including Justin Timberlake, Jim Belushi, and Juno Temple. And certainly, long time Sopranos fans will be pleased to see a couple of the show's stalwarts, like Tony Siricoand Steve Schirripa who played Pauly Walnuts and Bobby 'Bacala' Baccalieri respectively in that show.

Wonder Wheel will premiere at this month’s New York Film Festival before setting out on a limited release around the remainder of the country.

Wonder Wheel is rated PG-13 for thematic content including some sexuality, language and smoking

Wonder Wheel will roll into theaters this holiday season on December 1, 2017.
